Buying  outdoor gas grills is always an adventure for beginners. It is hard to know exactly what to look for, what features you need and don’t need, and with so many brands on the shelf, it can become quite confusing. If you are new to camping, I would suggest keeping your budget to around $50 and getting a very basic grill for now.

I definitely recommend buying a grill and not using the ones at the campgrounds, because they are all pretty nasty. If you like to live dangerously then I guess you can ignore my advice, but if you are more sensible, here are a few camp grills you can get for under $50:

Weber 1520 – there is no better and trusted name for grills than Weber. This is a no frills grill with a push button ignition system. This way you don’t set yourself on fire tying to light the grill, which is always a good thing. You aren’t paying for any extra features here – just a solid grill that gets the job done time after time.

Coleman Roadtrip Party Grill – it fits in one hand and can be carried almost like it is a book. The drawback is the cooking surface isn’t as large as you would like, but if you are cooking for just one or two people, it is an ideal grill. While this isn’t the best one on the market, it is reliable and best of all, portable.

HotSpot Notebook Grill – this folding camp grill unique grill in both looks and simplicity. I really like this one because once it is setup, it has about 14 inches of space to add charcoal or briskets. It also has a generous amount of grilling space as well.

All of these grills come in under $50 and are easily portable for campers on the go, or lazy campers like myself who like things simple and easy!
