Finding discount outdoor gear both online and offline is a game of patience and know how. When you have been doing this as long as me, you start to learn all of the little tricks to find exactly the right camping gear, at the prices you can afford. If I didn’t, then I wouldn’t be doing much camping, so I have had a big source of motivation!

If you have just gotten into camping and aren’t sure where to start, I would suggest visiting a retail store like Wal-Mart or Target to get your camping equipment. These stores have their own specific line of camping gear, and it is actually of pretty good quality. The best part is, it really doesn’t cost that much money (compared to the better brands).

Most camping stores also sell a starter kit, which includes mostly everything you need to get started, all in one kit. Of course as I said it includes “mostly” everything you need. I like to call these “head start kits”, because you will still need to buy other essentials such as cooking ware and other supplies.

Cooking ware can usually be found at places such as Harbor Freight at a discount price and even on Ebay and other auction sites.

One place you can find good deals on refurbished items is Overstock.com. If you don’t mind reconditioned camping gear, this place has great deals to offer. Just be sure to comparison shop first. Never buy any camping equipment on an impulse.
